The IGNOU exam form for the December 2026 term-end examination (TEE) can still be filled online until 15 October 2026, but only with a late fee of Rs 1,100. The exam fee is Rs 200 for each theory course. The no-late-fee window closed on 7 October, so if you have not filled the form yet, do it in the next two days.
IGNOU exam form dates and fee for December 2026
IGNOU's Student Evaluation Division opened the form on 10 September 2026 for learners of both ODL and online programmes. The deadline was then extended by a notice dated 30 September 2026. The table below follows that notice and the original September notification.
| Window | Dates | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Without late fee | 10 September to 7 October 2026 | Rs 200 per theory course |
| With late fee | 8 October to 15 October 2026 | Rs 200 per theory course plus Rs 1,100 late fee |
The original notification covers theory courses. If your programme has a project, internship or practical component, IGNOU handles those fees and schedules through separate notices, so look for yours on the IGNOU site or ask your regional centre.
How to fill the IGNOU exam form online
IGNOU's notification tells learners to submit the form only through their login in the Samarth portal and to choose the examination centre and eligible courses carefully. Keep these steps in order:
Check that your assignments for the courses you want to write are submitted, or will be before the extended date of 31 October 2026.
Log in to the Samarth portal with your own learner login.
Open the December 2026 TEE examination form and select only the courses you are eligible and ready to write.
Choose your examination centre with care.
Pay Rs 200 for each theory course, plus the late fee if you are filling it after 7 October.
Save the confirmation and keep a copy of your fee receipt.
If you are not sure which courses are open to you, the date sheet carries the programme and course codes, and your study centre can confirm eligibility. Do not guess a course code, because a wrong selection can cost you a full exam fee.
Who is eligible to write the December 2026 TEE
The tentative date sheet dated 5 October 2026 says permission to appear is provisional. It depends on four things: your registration is valid and not time barred, the required assignments are submitted by the due date where applicable, you have completed the minimum time your programme requires, and you have paid the exam fee for every course you are writing. If any of these fails, the result of those courses will not be declared.
That last condition is the one students trip over. If you fill the form but your registration has lapsed, the fee is gone and the result is withheld. Check your registration status first, especially if you joined years ago. Students on newer admissions can read how the current session works in our post on the IGNOU July 2026 admission deadline.
IGNOU exam fee: what the Rs 200 covers and what it does not
Rs 200 per theory course is the examination fee in the September notification. A learner writing four courses pays Rs 800 in the on-time window. The late fee of Rs 1,100 is listed as an addition to the course fee, so it makes the form noticeably more expensive. The exam fee is only one part of what a programme costs; for a degree-level view see our breakdown of IGNOU MBA fees.
One rule in the date sheet is worth reading twice. If you have already passed a course and apply to write it again in the present TEE, the result will not be declared and the fee is not refunded. Only learners who want to improve their division can apply, and only through the offline route at the concerned section within six months of printing the marksheet.
IGNOU December 2026 exam dates and hall ticket
The tentative date sheet dated 5 October 2026 lists theory exams from 25 November 2026 to 14 January 2027. Each day has two sessions, 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM, and the actual duration is printed on the question paper. Hall tickets for eligible students will be made available on the IGNOU website, and the notice asks you to check the site regularly.
Two practical points from the same notice. Answers are accepted only in the language in which your programme is offered, although you may attempt the paper in Hindi medium even if you registered in English, except for language programmes. And an exam centre can change at the last minute, so stay in touch with your regional centre in the weeks before the exam.
Assignment deadline for the December 2026 exam
A notice dated 1 October 2026 extended the last date for submitting assignments, in hard copy and soft copy, to 31 October 2026 for ODL and online programmes. The extension applies to the December 2026 TEE only. If your assignments are pending, finish them before you pay the exam fee, because the fee does not make you eligible on its own.
What to do if you are still new to IGNOU
Learners who joined recently also need their identity set up for the credit system. Read how to create your ABC ID and follow the DEB ID steps so there are no surprises at enrolment. If you are comparing IGNOU with other routes for the long term, see IGNOU vs DU SOL and the IGNOU institute page for the programmes it offers.
