IGNOU Online: How Learning Works
IGNOU online programmes use live and interactive sessions, with classes scheduled on weekends so that working professionals can attend. A minimum of 75 percent attendance is expected in online classes. Learners also get eGyankosh (the LMS portal), Gyandhara audio counselling, GyanVani educational radio, Gyandarshan educational TV, Virtual Class and the E-IGNOU library. Online exams are semester based, held every six months, and use an AI-proctored tool.
IGNOU Fees, Payment and Scholarships
Fees vary widely by mode. ODL B.Com costs ₹8,100 in total and ODL BA ₹7,200, while the online MBA is ₹56,000 and the ODL MBA ₹62,000. Fees can be paid by credit card, debit card or net banking. IGNOU does not offer a No Cost EMI option for online courses at present. Eligible learners may apply for Government of India scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal after admission is confirmed.
IGNOU Admission 2026: Steps and Sessions
Admission is open twice a year, in the July/August and January/February sessions. Candidates must create an ABC ID and a DEB ID as per current UGC guidelines. Register on the official admission portal, log in again to fill the application form, upload scanned documents and pay the fee. There is no age cap for any programme.
