The FMS Delhi cutoff for the MBA 2026-28 batch was a composite score of 46.739 for the general category, 37.031 for EWS, 35.189 for OBC, 29.370 for SC and 23.140 for ST. FMS does not shortlist on CAT percentile. It builds a weighted score from your CAT section scores, so the same percentile can fall either side of the line.
Below are the official numbers for the last two cycles, how the composite is calculated and what decides the final list after the interview. For fees, seats and placements, see our FMS Delhi institute page.
FMS Delhi cutoff 2026: category-wise composite scores
FMS publishes its shortlisting cut-offs as a notice on its MBA Full-Time admissions page. The 2026 notice, dated 16 March 2026, used CAT 2025 results. The 2025 notice, dated 17 March 2025, used CAT 2024.
| Category | Seats | Shortlisted | Cut-off 2026-28 (CAT 2025) | Cut-off 2025-27 (CAT 2024) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General | 101 | 707 | 46.739 | 51.103 |
| EWS | 25 | 175 | 37.031 | 40.796 |
| OBC | 69 | 483 | 35.189 | 39.154 |
| SC | 37 | 259 | 29.370 | 31.887 |
| ST | 19 | 133 | 23.140 | 23.424 |
| PWD | 12 | 84 | 24.247 | 27.304 |
| CW (five sub-groups) | 12 | 84 | CW1 to CW4: all candidates; CW5: 23.419 | CW1 to CW4: all candidates; CW5: 28.721 |
| WT1 (ward quota, teaching staff) | 6 | 42 | 22.481 | 21.549 |
| WNT1 (ward quota, non-teaching staff) | 6 | 42 | 5.578 | 4.909 |
| Orphan quota (male) | 1 | 7 | 26.730 | 38.555 |
| Orphan quota (female) | 1 | 7 | 18.172 | 30.449 |
Both years, FMS shortlisted 2,023 candidates for 289 seats, including 707 general-category candidates for 101 general seats, which is about seven interview calls per seat. Because the shortlist size did not change, the lower 2026 cut-offs say more about how raw CAT 2025 scores were spread than about FMS becoming easier.
How the FMS composite score is calculated
The FMS Information Bulletin for MBA 2026-28 explains the method, and the shortlisting notice repeats it. FMS takes your score in each CAT section, as provided by the CAT centre, and weights it:
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): 40%
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR): 30%
Quantitative Ability (QA): 30%
For each section, the composite adds (your score in the section x weight) / maximum marks for the section, rounded to three decimals. The total is out of 100. Women candidates get an additional 5 marks for shortlisting. So if you scored exactly half the maximum in every section, your composite would be 20 + 15 + 15 = 50, or 55 for a woman candidate.
Two things follow. First, VARC carries a third more weight than either of the other sections, so a strong score in the VARC section moves your composite more than an equally strong quant score. Second, percentile does not enter the formula at all. A high overall percentile built mainly on QA can produce a lower composite than a slightly lower percentile built on VARC. When you check your chances, work out your composite from the section scores on your scorecard rather than reading off the percentile.
After the cutoff: how the final selection works
Clearing the composite cut-off gets you an interview call, not a seat. The final merit list after the interview process uses the weights below, and women candidates who appear for the interview get an additional 5 marks. Applicants without a CAT 2025 score were not considered.
| Component | Weight | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| Weighted CAT 2025 score | 50% | Same 40/30/30 section weighting |
| Class X marks | 10% | 60% to under 75%: 5%; 75% and above: 10% |
| Class XII marks | 10% | 60% to under 75%: 5%; 75% and above: 10% |
| Discussion on Statement of Purpose | 10% | Conducted individually |
| Extempore | 5% | Conducted individually |
| Personal interview | 15% | Conducted individually |
Half the final score is still your CAT, so a candidate who scrapes past the cut-off starts the interview round behind. Class X and XII marks are banded, and the bulletin awards marks only from 60% upwards, so school results you cannot change still count for up to 20%. The remaining 30% (SOP discussion, extempore and interview) is where preparation pays off.
The admission process also runs long. In 2026, interviews began on 13 April, the first list of provisionally selected candidates came out on 21 April, and FMS issued eleven admission lists, the eleventh dated 28 August 2026. If you are waitlisted, keep checking the admissions page through the summer.
Eligibility in brief
The bulletin asks for a bachelor's degree after 12 years of schooling with at least 50% marks for the unreserved category, 45% for OBC (non-creamy layer), EWS, PWD and CW candidates, and pass marks for SC and ST. Final-year students can apply if they expect to meet the requirement when results are declared. What composite score should you aim for?
Plan to clear the most recent cut-off with room to spare, because it moves with each year's CAT. The general cut-off fell by about 4.4 points between the two cycles above, and a swing of that size can decide whether you get a call at all. Aim for a balanced scorecard: a weak VARC hurts more here than at a school that weights all sections equally, and the women's 5-mark addition applies at both the shortlist and the interview.
If your composite lands just below the line, you have choices. You can apply to other programmes with your current score, or take CAT again with the FMS weights in mind. Our post on borderline CAT scores and whether to drop a year walks through that decision. If you are still deciding whether an MBA is right for you now, read MBA after graduation: is it worth it? FMS said in its January 2026 notice that CAT cut-offs, shortlisting status and interview schedules are posted only on its website, so treat fms.edu as the one place to watch. Frequently asked questions
What is the FMS cut off 2026 for the general category?
For the MBA 2026-28 batch, the general-category shortlisting cut-off was a composite score of 46.739, based on CAT 2025. For 2025-27 it was 51.103, based on CAT 2024.
Does FMS Delhi shortlist on CAT percentile?
No. FMS uses a composite score that weights your CAT section scores 40% for VARC, 30% for DILR and 30% for QA. Your overall percentile is not used.
Do women candidates get extra marks at FMS?
Yes. The bulletin adds 5 marks to the weighted score for female candidates at the shortlisting stage, and another 5 marks for women who appear for the interview.
How many seats does FMS Delhi have in the MBA Full-Time programme?
The 2026-28 bulletin lists 251 sanctioned seats (101 general, 69 OBC, 37 SC, 25 EWS and 19 ST), plus supernumerary seats for PWD, CW, foreign students, staff wards and the orphan quota.
Can I get into FMS with a 95 percentile?
There is no percentile answer, because FMS does not use percentile. Work out your composite from your section scores. If it is comfortably above the latest cut-off for your category, you are in contention for an interview call, and the final list then depends on the interview round and your school marks as well.
