The short answer

The IIMs publish no score-to-percentile table, so every CAT percentile predictor is an estimate. Results reported after recent CATs put about 85 scaled marks at the 99th percentile in 2025, 95 in 2024 and 77 in 2023, and about 62, 70 and 55 at the 95th. How to use it

  1. 1

Enter your scaled score from the CAT scorecard, or your raw score from the response sheet before results.

  2. 2

Add your section scores if you want sectional estimates too.

  3. 3

Read the estimated range and the figure for each past year. A wide range means past years disagreed at your score.

Where the estimate comes from

The IIMs publish how a percentile is calculated, not which score earns which percentile. After every result, CAT coaching institutes publish the scaled scores and percentiles they collect from candidates’ scorecards. We compiled those tables for CAT 2025, 2024, 2023, cross-checked publishers against each other, and left out figures that clashed with the rest. Some percentiles rest on a single publisher, one more reason to read the result as a range.

For each year, the lowest score reported at a percentile gives the optimistic end of your range and the highest gives the cautious end. The overall range spans every year, because the score for the 99th percentile moved by about 20 marks between CAT 2024 and 2025. CAT 2023 had a 198-mark paper, so its scores are scaled to 204 before comparing. Below the lowest reported score, only an upper bound is shown.

Percentile = (N − r) ÷ N × 100, where N = candidates who took CAT and r = your rank

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is a CAT percentile predictor?

Treat it as a range, not a promise. Your percentile depends on how every candidate scored that year, and the IIMs publish no score-to-percentile table. This estimate uses scaled scores and percentiles reported publicly after CAT 2023, 2024 and 2025. The score needed for the 99th percentile moved by about 20 marks between 2024 and 2025, so the range shows each year separately.

What score do I need for 99 percentile in CAT?

In publicly reported results, about 85 scaled marks reached the 99th percentile in CAT 2025, about 95 to 96 in CAT 2024, and about 76 to 77 in CAT 2023 (a 198-mark paper). These are estimates, not IIM figures, and CAT 2026 could differ.

Should I enter my raw score or my scaled score?

Your scaled score from the scorecard gives the closest estimate, because the past results behind this tool are scaled scores. Before results, your raw score from the response sheet gives a rough idea, since the two are usually close.

How is the CAT percentile calculated?

The IIMs’ CAT 2024 percentile note gives it as (N − r) ÷ N × 100, where N is the number of candidates and r is your rank. About 2.58 lakh candidates took CAT 2025, so the 99th percentile meant roughly 2,600 candidates at or above you.

What is a good CAT percentile for the IIMs?

Most IIMs publish minimums of 85 to 95 percentile overall for General candidates, plus sectional minimums. IIM Ahmedabad’s for CAT 2026 is 95 overall and 85 in each section. Interview calls usually need more than the minimum. Check every IIM in the IIM cut-off checker.
