Three Hyderabad institutes appear in that top 100: IBS Hyderabad (ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education) at 46, IMT Hyderabad at 72 and MANAGE at 95. IBS Hyderabad

IBS Hyderabad is the business school of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, which NIRF 2025 ranks 46th in management. It admits through its own test, IBSAT. Its site says selection is on merit: past academic record, a micro presentation and a personal interview. At ₹17.01 lakh for two years, it sits at the top of the fee range in this list. Compare that with the median salary in its latest placement report before you decide.

IMT Hyderabad

IMT Hyderabad runs PGDM programmes in general management, finance, marketing and logistics and supply chain management. For the 2027-29 batch it asks for a three-year bachelor's degree with 50 percent and a CAT 2026, XAT 2027 or GMAT score, as its admission page states. Its ₹16 lakh fee includes accommodation and mess. Keep that in mind when you compare it with a fee that does not.

MANAGE

MANAGE, the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, is an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Its two-year PGDM in Agri Business Management is recognised by AICTE and admits through CAT. It suits you if you want agribusiness, food or rural markets rather than a general MBA.

University of Hyderabad School of Management Studies

Besides its distance diplomas, the central university runs a campus MBA. For 2026-28 it shortlisted on CAT 2025, MAT 2025 or CMAT 2026 scores, then held a group discussion and interview. It asked for a first-class bachelor's degree, or 60 percent. The university notes that the IIMs have no role in its selection, even though CAT scores are used.

Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE)

IPE's two-year PGDM at its Shamirpet campus is approved by AICTE. It asks for 50 percent in your degree (45 percent for SC, ST and PC candidates) and a score in CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, CMAT or GMAT.

Private colleges and TG ICET

MBA seats in Telangana's universities and their affiliated colleges, including many private colleges, are filled through TG ICET. The 2026 test was a computer-based test run by Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, for the Telangana Council of Higher Education. It covered MBA and MCA admission for 2026-27.

The PGP is a one-year postgraduate programme for people with work experience, not a CAT-only fresher MBA. Executive formats such as PGPMAX are even more senior. Osmania is a public university (1918) in Hyderabad with NAAC A+ and NIRF rank 53. The distance-education centre lists a two-year MBA. Reviews mention study-centre support rather than a corporate placement season. That is expected. A state-university MBA can still help with promotions, government-exam eligibility and a recognised degree. University of Hyderabad is a central university (1974) in Gachibowli with NIRF rank 26. Its Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning is older (1994) and currently emphasises diplomas such as business management and project management more than a flagship two-year MBA. What good MBA placements in Hyderabad usually look like

Hyderabad's job market is heavy on IT, product companies, pharma, and increasingly BFSI and consulting. An MBA college in the city with a healthy placement season will show a mix of those, not only one IT services recruiter.
