IIM MBA fees at IIM Ahmedabad: the short answer

As of October 2026, IIM Ahmedabad has not published the rupee fee for its two-year MBA (PGP) 2026-28 batch on iima.ac.in. Its admissions policy says the fee for future batches will be announced later. What IIMA does publish: US$50,000 for international candidates in the PGP 2026-28 batch, ₹35 lakh (single housing) or ₹37.10 lakh (married housing) for the one-year MBA-PGPX 2026-27, and ₹20 lakh for the blended MBA-BPGP 2026-28. IIM MBA fees compared, 2026-28 batch

The IIM fees structure differs from one institute to the next. Some quote tuition only. Others fold in hostel rent, books and insurance. Read the "what it covers" column before you decide one IIM is cheaper than another.

Three practical notes. First, IIMA has not yet published a rupee PGP fee for 2026-28, so do not plan your loan around a figure you saw on a forum. Second, mess charges, laptops, travel and exchange-term costs sit outside most of these totals. Add a buffer of your own. Third, refundable deposits, often called caution money, can be billed on top of the fee. IIM Kozhikode, for example, lists a ₹25,000 caution deposit outside its ₹23,50,000 total. Which IIM Ahmedabad MBA fits you

IIMA's academic catalogue lists the MBA (PGP), MBA-FABM, MBA-PGPX, MBA-BPGP, MBA-BPGP in Business Analytics and AI, the ePGD-ABA, the PhD and faculty programmes. The three you will compare most often:

• MBA (PGP): two years, full time, residential. Best if you are a graduate or have a few years of work and want a full career reset.
• MBA-PGPX: one year, full time, residential, for professionals with at least four years of work. Expensive, but you are away from salary for one year instead of two.
• MBA-BPGP: two years, live online classes plus a one-week campus module in each of six terms. You keep your job. It is not a fully remote programme, so plan leave for every campus week.

IIM Ahmedabad BBA fees: is there a BBA?

No. As of October 2026, IIM Ahmedabad does not offer a BBA or any undergraduate programme, so there is no IIM Ahmedabad BBA fee to quote. If an advertisement offers an "IIM Ahmedabad BBA", check the exact institution name and the award before you pay anything. If you are in Class 12 and want an IIM, look at five-year integrated programmes instead. IIM Indore, for example, runs an Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), and its fee page lists IPM fees alongside the PGP. A regular three or four-year BBA course from a recognised university is the other route, followed by CAT later.

Eligibility and admission for the MBA (PGP)

The PGP 2027-29 admission policy (September 2026) asks for a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, relaxed to 45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. The degree must involve at least three years of study after Class 12. Final-year students can apply.

Selection runs on CAT 2026. IIMA builds a composite score that gives 35% weight to an application rating (your academic record and profile) and 65% to your CAT score, then shortlists for an Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI). Shortlists are expected around the second week of January 2027. As per Government of India rules, 27% of seats are reserved for NC-OBC, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 5% for persons with benchmark disabilities and up to 10% for EWS candidates. Foreign nationals apply through a separate supernumerary quota of 10% extra seats, using GMAT scores.

For PGPX 2027-28, you need a bachelor's degree (15 years of education), a minimum age of 25 and at least four years of full-time work as on 31 March 2027, plus a test-centre GMAT or GRE score. For BPGP 2026-28, IIMA asked for three years of work after graduation, a minimum age of 24 as on 30 April 2026 and at least 50% marks, with CAT, GMAT, GRE or IIMA's own IAT accepted.

IIM Ahmedabad MBA seats and batch size

IIMA does not publish one fixed seat number for the PGP. The best guide is the joining batch. In its release of 17 June 2026, IIMA said 414 students joined the PGP 2026-28 batch and 44 joined PGP-FABM. The PGP batch was 30.92% women, about 77% had work experience and the average experience was 24 months. If you are a fresher, that last number matters: you are competing with a class where most people have already worked.

Placements: what the audited report says

IIMA's MBA placement report for the class of 2026, audited by B2K Analytics on 27 August 2026 under the Indian Placement Reporting Standards, covers 402 students eligible for placement. Of these, 392 sought placement through the institute. For those 392, IIMA reports a median Maximum Earning Potential of ₹37,00,000 and a mean of ₹37,97,495. The median total guaranteed cash component was ₹32,50,000. Maximum Earning Potential includes variable pay and other first-year components, so it is higher than what lands in your bank account. Paying the fee: loans and financial aid

If you will need an education loan, start the paperwork as soon as the offer arrives. IIMA's financial assistance rules (published June 2024) describe a need-based scholarship for PGP students whose gross family income was below ₹15 lakh, assessed on income, assets and loans taken. PGPX lists entry scholarships for groups such as defence personnel, government employees and candidates with not-for-profit experience. Confirm the current rules with the financial aid office after you get an offer. Ask for the written refund policy too.

How to apply to IIM Ahmedabad

1. Pick the programme first: PGP through CAT, PGPX through GMAT or GRE, or BPGP through CAT, GMAT, GRE or IAT.
2. Register for CAT 2026 if you want the PGP, and choose IIMA in your CAT form.
3. Check your eligibility dates for age, work experience and score validity on the programme page.
4. Prepare for the AWT and interview, or for essays and interviews in PGPX.
5. On an offer, confirm the fee, loan sanction and refund terms in writing before paying.
