Symbiosis MBA fees through distance learning: the short answer

Symbiosis does not offer an MBA through distance learning. As of October 2026, Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL) in Pune offers postgraduate diplomas, not MBA degrees. Its flagship management programme is the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA), with a general-category fee of ₹81,000 paid in two instalments (₹49,000 + ₹32,000). If you want a Symbiosis MBA degree you can study from home, that is the online MBA run by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) through its online school, which is a separate institution with its own fees and admission.

Is there a Symbiosis distance MBA?

No. We checked the UGC Distance Education Bureau list of entitled programmes in October 2026. Symbiosis International appears only in online mode, with the MBA listed for the July session of 2026-27, along with BBA, BCA and several master's programmes. There is no Symbiosis entry in open and distance learning (ODL) mode, and SCDL does not appear on that list at all. SCDL's own catalogue has PG diplomas, an Executive PGDM, PG certificates, diplomas and short certificates, and none of them is an MBA. This matters for you. A PG diploma from SCDL is a diploma. SCDL states its PGDBA and Executive PGDM are approved by AICTE, and it links an approval letter for academic year 2026-27. AICTE approval of a diploma does not turn it into a degree. If a government job, a PhD or an overseas university asks for a master's degree, a PGDBA may not meet that rule, so check the exact wording before you enrol. SCDL fees exclude exam fees (charged per paper, per attempt), the project fee and printed study material, which is a paid extra. Defence, SAARC and international applicants pay different rates. SCDL asks for the first instalment within 15 days of admission and the second within 45 days of that, or by the final fee date if earlier. What you study in the SCDL PGDBA

The PGDBA carries 82 credits over four semesters. The first year covers principles of management, legal aspects of business, management accounting, managerial economics, organisational behaviour, business ethics, operations, financial management, HR, marketing, business analytics fundamentals and research methodology. The second year moves to specialisation subjects, with choices such as finance, marketing and HR, plus an elective and a compulsory project report in the fourth semester. Classes run live online with recordings, and SCDL's FAQs say exams are taken online from home, with an on-demand option for choosing exam dates. It suits you if you want structured management basics at low cost and can study on your own without much hand-holding.

Eligibility for SCDL programmes

• PGDBA and most PG diplomas: a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Final-year students and those awaiting results can apply provisionally. Freshers and working professionals are both eligible.
• Executive PGDM: a bachelor's degree plus at least five years of work at management or supervisory level.
• Foreign degrees: an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities is mandatory.

SCDL's FAQs say there is no entrance exam. Selection is based on eligibility and your application: you register online, upload documents and SCDL verifies them.

PGDBA or an online MBA: which should you choose?

Choose the SCDL PGDBA if your goal is skills and a recognised Symbiosis name on your CV at under ₹1 lakh, and your employer accepts a diploma for promotions. Choose a UGC-entitled online MBA if you need a degree for a government post, a promotion rule that says "master's degree", or a PhD later. The online route costs more but gives you an MBA degree. If you are open to a full-time campus MBA, SIBM Pune is a Symbiosis option. SIU requires the SNAP test for every MBA at its institutes, and SIBM Pune then runs its own GE-PI rounds. At ₹13,10,000 a year in academic fees, it is a very different budget and commitment from SCDL.

Placements and career support

SCDL's PGDBA page does not list placement statistics. Its programme pages describe career support such as resume and interview preparation. Treat a distance or online diploma as a way to grow in your current job or switch functions with your own effort, not as a campus placement route. No programme can promise you a job or salary.

2. Fill the online form and pay the ₹1,200 application fee.
3. Upload your graduation documents, or provisional documents if you are in your final year.
4. Pay the first instalment within 15 days of admission, and the second within the next 45 days.
5. Budget separately for exam fees per paper and the project fee.
