Savitribai Phule Pune University was established on 10 February 1949 under the Poona University Act in the northwestern part of Pune city. It is one of the premier universities in India and houses 46 academic departments. With about 307 recognized research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges offering graduate and undergraduate courses, the university is famous as the “Oxford of the East.” With a team of 293 teachers, Savitribai Phule Pune University attracts many foreign students due to its excellent teaching facilities.
