Madurai Kamaraj University is a state university situated in Madurai City and was established in 1965. Madurai Kamaraj University established its DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION for offering distance education in 1971. Initially, Madurai Kamaraj University Distance Education Department was known as The Institute of Correspondence Course and Continuing Education but in 1996 it got its present name. Madurai Kamaraj University Directorate of Distance Education is recognized by the University Grant Commission and Distance Education Bureau under which it offers multiple courses. Distance education at Madurai Kamaraj University is also accredited with an “A” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and received the status of “University for Potential Excellence”.
