Overview
Jamia distance admission is managed by Jamia Millia Islamia's Centre for Distance and Online Education, or CDOE. This New Delhi Central University offers open and distance learning alongside separate online programmes. Check the exact course and mode before applying.
JMI was founded in 1920 and holds NAAC A++ accreditation. Older pages use the name Centre for Distance and Open Learning, or CDOL. This guide covers the university's distance route, eligibility, dated admission notices, study arrangements and programme fees.
The July 2026-27 prospectus lists BA General and BBA in both ODL and online modes. MA options include English, Hindi, History, Political Science and Public Administration. It also lists distance MBA, B.Ed., diplomas and certificates. Check each programme row for its available mode.
BCom and MCom appear as online programmes in that prospectus table. Do not assume every CDOE course is a distance award. Read the latest programme guide and subsequent notices, especially where the university has introduced new courses or changed entry routes.
For the distance MBA, the prospectus requires a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks and an entrance test. It provides specified category relaxations. B.Ed. has additional teacher-training requirements, so a bachelor's degree alone is not sufficient evidence of eligibility.
Match your qualifications against the complete course criteria before paying. Check subject requirements, acceptable equivalent qualifications and any professional training conditions. Verify the exact programme, ODL mode and admission session in current UGC-DEB records. University accreditation alone does not establish every course's entitlement.
The notice dated 8 September 2026 extended applications for applicable CDOE programmes to 30 September 2026. It expressly excluded MBA and B.Ed. in ODL mode from that extension. That application deadline has passed; do not assume the portal still accepts new applications.
The MBA first selection list, dated 26 September 2026, gave selected candidates 29 September to 1 October for admission formalities. These dates also have passed. Check later selection lists or fresh session notices before travelling, submitting documents or making a payment.
Use the Admission link on the official JMI CDOE website. Create the required ABC and DEB IDs, register with an accessible email address and select the correct course. Read the portal instructions and keep the submitted application acknowledgement.
JMI's September verification release says applicants receive instructions through their registered email. Eligible candidates pay the programme fee after successful document verification. Follow your own appointment notice and bring the listed originals and copies. A submitted form does not guarantee admission.
The 2026-27 prospectus lists distance MBA programme fees at ₹30K annually and B.Ed. at ₹25K annually. Their application fee is ₹1.5K, separately. These are programme-specific charges, not a single fee for all CDOE degrees or a complete cost estimate.
Distance study uses self-learning material, counselling and programme-specific assessment. Plan time for assignments and examinations, and check any practical or in-person requirements. Confirm your learner support centre and current timetable. Use official programme coordinators for academic questions; no placement or salary outcome is promised.

Common questions about Jamia Millia Islamia Distance Education: admissions, fees and outcomes.
Begin with the official JMI CDOE admission page and choose the exact programme and study mode. Read the eligibility rules, then follow the linked portal's registration and application instructions. Admission remains subject to selection, document verification and payment. Check the current notice before applying because an accessible login page does not prove applications are open.
The notice dated 8 September 2026 extended applications for applicable CDOE programmes to 30 September 2026. It excluded MBA and B.Ed. in ODL mode from this extension. That deadline has passed. Check subsequent official notices for any further opportunity; do not apply a general extension to an excluded course.
The first selection list dated 26 September 2026 scheduled selected candidates' admission formalities for 29 September to 1 October 2026. It required document verification and ₹30K payment after verification. Those dates have passed. Follow any later list or individual instruction rather than assuming the first-list schedule remains available.
No. The July 2026-27 prospectus distinguishes open and distance learning from online delivery. For example, BA General and BBA are listed in both modes, while BCom and MCom are listed online. Check the mode against your chosen course and admission session rather than treating CDOE as one uniform study format.
The 2026-27 prospectus requires a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks for the ODL MBA, with specified category relaxations. Applicants must also take the CDOE entrance test. Read the complete eligibility and selection rules before applying. The separately listed online MBA uses a different selection route.
The July 2026-27 prospectus quotes distance MBA programme fees of ₹30K annually and B.Ed. fees of ₹25K annually. Their application charge is ₹1.5K separately. Confirm the amount due for your selected course and stage before payment. These annual figures should not be read as full-degree totals.
The distance B.Ed. criteria include teacher-training conditions alongside academic qualifications and an entrance test. A general bachelor's degree by itself does not establish eligibility. Read the full programme requirements, including the prescribed training route, and prepare relevant certificates. Ask the programme coordinator to clarify any qualification that does not clearly match.
The university's September 2026 release says verification instructions are sent to applicants' registered email addresses. Check that email and your programme's selection notice for the appointment and document checklist. Keep original qualifications and the required copies ready. Eligible candidates complete payment after verification, so retain both the admission instructions and payment receipt.
Plan a regular study schedule using the supplied self-learning material and counselling arrangements. Follow the programme's assignment deadlines and examination notices, including any practical or in-person requirements. Confirm your learner support centre before travelling. Distance learning offers a different study pattern, but students still need to complete the specified academic assessments.
Verify the exact university, programme, ODL mode and session against current UGC-DEB records. Then read the fee and withdrawal rules for that admission cycle. Ask for written clarification of unclear charges before paying, and retain receipts. A general accreditation badge or an old prospectus should not replace those programme-specific checks.
