The eligibility criteria for the B.Tech lateral entry program vary from institution to institution. Generally, candidates must have completed a diploma in engineering or technology with at least 50% to 60% marks or a B.Sc. degree with mathematics as one of the subjects with at least 50% marks.
It takes around 3 to 3.5 years to complete the B.Tech after the diploma program. As the students directly enter into the second year of the course, they get a grace period of 1 year in their course duration.
No, this is not a necessary condition for pursuing a B.Tech program. The candidate could have done a diploma in a different engineering stream and may pursue a B.Tech in a different engineering discipline.
