An online BBA course is a three-year management degree you study through a learning platform, with live or recorded classes and online exams. What an online BBA course involves
The syllabus matches a regular BBA: management principles, accounting, marketing, finance, HR, business law and a specialisation in the later semesters. What changes is delivery. Classes run on an LMS, assignments are submitted online and exams are conducted remotely. UGC's 2020 regulations for open, distance and online programmes require proctored assessment for online programmes, so expect identity checks during exams.

Online BBA eligibility: who can apply
The usual requirement is a pass in Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, in any stream. Chandigarh University states no entrance exam and no age limit for its online BBA, and Manipal University Jaipur asks for a recognised 10+2 qualification. IGNOU's BBA also lists 10+2 in any discipline. Commerce is not compulsory, so arts and science students can apply too. Some universities ask for a minimum percentage, so read the admission page for the exact programme and session.
Online BBA course fees in India
Fees depend on the university, the specialisation and whether you pay in one go or by semester. As listed on official university pages in October 2026:
Manipal University Jaipur online BBA: 1,39,500 rupees list fee, which works out to 23,250 rupees a semester. The page shows 1,25,550 rupees for full payment after a 10 percent discount. Details are on the Manipal online BBA page.
Chandigarh University online BBA: 1,75,000 rupees total fee, shown as 1,31,250 rupees after a 25 percent early-bird scholarship, or 21,875 rupees a semester at that rate.
IGNOU BBA: 10,500 rupees a year for Indian students over the minimum 36 months, so about 31,500 rupees, with exam fees not included, as shown on the IGNOU BBA page.
Scholarships and discounts change with each intake, so treat the lower figure as an offer, not a guarantee. Ask for the total payable amount in writing, including exam fees, any LMS or certification charges and the application fee.
Online BBA vs distance BBA: IGNOU is a different model
IGNOU's BBA is an Open and Distance Learning programme with a duration of 36 to 72 months, which is not the same thing as an online degree. You study mainly from learning material and appear for scheduled term-end exams. The trade-off is clear: the fee is a fraction of private online BBA fees, and you get a central university's name, but you get less live teaching and you manage assignments and exam registration yourself.

Is an online BBA valid? How to check
An online BBA is valid for a university only when UGC has entitled that university to offer that programme online for your session. UGC's notice dated 1 October 2025, for the 2025-26 session, listed 113 institutions entitled for online programmes, and it included the BBA at both Manipal University (Rajasthan) and Chandigarh University. That DEB notice is for 2025-26, so look up the current session's list on the DEB site before you apply.
