DU SOL admission is fully online through the School of Open Learning website. For 2026-27, registration for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes closes at 5 PM on 13 October 2026, and fees must be paid by the end of that day. UG entry needs a Class 12 pass, with 45% for honours and management courses, and no CUET.
SOL is now officially the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), part of the University of Delhi's Department of Distance and Continuing Education. It awards Delhi University degrees in distance mode, so you study from self-learning material and sit semester exams instead of attending daily classes. This guide covers who can apply, the steps, the documents, first-year fees and what to do if you missed this year's window. For the full programme list with fees per course, see our DU SOL courses and fees page.
DU SOL admission 2026-27: where the cycle stands
SOL announced its 2026-27 admissions in July 2026 with an "Admissions open" notice for UG, PG and skill courses. On 14 September 2026 it extended the last date for UG and PG admissions to Tuesday, 13 October 2026, citing a UGC public notice dated 5 August 2026, and said no further extension would be granted. A second notice dated 13 October 2026 confirmed the cut-off times.
| Stage | Date | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Admissions announced | July 2026 | UG, PG and skill course portals opened on sol.du.ac.in |
| Last date extended | Notice dated 14 September 2026 | UG and PG admissions extended to 13 October 2026, with no further extension |
| Last registration | 13 October 2026, 5:00 PM | No new UG or PG registration after this time |
| Last fee payment | 13 October 2026, end of day | Registered applicants must pay the programme fee the same day |
| PG merit lists | Second two-year and third one-year M.A. and M.Com lists | Admission under these lists also closed on 13 October 2026 |
If you are reading this after 13 October 2026, the 2026-27 cycle has closed. The 2027-28 dates have not been announced yet. The UG prospectus says registration for a new session opens only after approval from UGC's Distance Education Bureau (DEB), and that any date change is notified only on sol.du.ac.in. For reference, this year's "Admissions open" notice came out in July 2026, so keep an eye on the SOL notices page through the summer.
Use the gap well. Get your Class 10 and 12 documents scanned to size, check that your Class 12 subjects fit the programme you want (the table below), and keep a category certificate ready if you need one. Students who prepare early get through verification faster, which matters because the payment link only appears after your documents are checked.
Who can apply: DU SOL eligibility for UG programmes
Every UG programme needs Class 12 or an equivalent exam passed from a single recognised board. The prospectus sets no minimum age, and gap years are not a problem. Two groups are turned away: candidates with a compartment still pending, and those who passed only Class 10 or an 11-year school-leaving exam. Holders of a three-year engineering diploma after Class 10 can join the first year of a UG programme.
| Programme | Class 12 subjects needed | Minimum marks |
|---|---|---|
| B.A. (Programme) with Hindi, English, History, Political Science, Economics, Education, Sanskrit or Urdu | One List A language plus three List B subjects, or two languages plus two List B subjects | Pass |
| B.A. (Programme) with Computer Applications or with Mathematics | Same combinations, with Mathematics as one subject | Pass |
| B.Com (Programme) | One List A language plus three List B subjects | Pass |
| B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science | One or two languages plus Mathematics or Applied Mathematics and List B subjects | Pass, with Mathematics |
| B.A. (Hons) English | English plus three List B subjects, or English and one more language plus two List B subjects | 45% aggregate (OBC 40.5%, SC/ST/PwBD pass) |
| B.A. (Hons) Political Science | One language plus three List B subjects, or two languages plus two | 45% aggregate (OBC 40.5%, SC/ST/PwBD pass) |
| B.A. (Hons) Economics | One language plus Mathematics or Applied Mathematics plus two List B subjects | 45% aggregate (OBC 40.5%, SC/ST/PwBD pass) |
| B.Com (Hons) | One language plus Mathematics or Accountancy plus two List B subjects | 45% aggregate (OBC 40.5%, SC/ST/PwBD pass) |
| BMS and BBA (FIA) | One language plus Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (passed) | 45% aggregate (OBC 40.5%, SC/ST/PwBD pass) |
List A is the language list: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. You must count a language you actually studied in Class 12. List B holds 22 domain subjects, including Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, History, Political Science, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology and Sociology.
All 2026-27 UG programmes follow the four-year NEP 2020 structure with exits along the way. You can leave with a certificate after one year (44 credits), a diploma after two years (88 credits) or a bachelor's degree after three years (132 credits), or stay on for a four-year honours degree with 176 credits. If you are working, plan for three years and decide on the fourth later.
PG and MBA eligibility at DU SOL
SOL offers M.A. in Hindi, History, Political Science and Sanskrit, plus M.Com, as two-year programmes. For 2026-27 it has also added one-year versions of the same five, so check the PG prospectus to see which bachelor's degree each version expects. For the two-year M.A. History, for example, you need a bachelor's degree with 50% marks, or 45% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
You can apply for M.A. and M.Com with or without a CUET (PG) 2026 score. Merit lists go to CUET applicants first, and any seats left are filled on graduation marks. If your degree shows a CGPA, the CGPA to percentage calculator gives you a quick estimate, but the conversion rule printed on your own university's marksheet is the one that counts.
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Duration | 2 years |
| Minimum eligibility | Graduation in any discipline with 50% (general), 45% (OBC, SC, ST), pass (PwBD) |
| How merit is worked out | 80% weightage to graduation marks and 20% to work experience |
| Work experience weightage | 4 years or more: 20%; 3 years: 15%; 2 years: 10%; 1 year: 5%; under 1 year: none |
| Preference categories | MBBS, BDS, MD or MDS holders and hospital administrators with 2 years' experience; Group A officers; 2 years or more in industry or self-employment |
| Upper age limit | None |
| Fee | Rs 57,920 per year (general category) |
Freshers can apply for the MBA, but their merit is based on graduation marks alone, so a candidate with four years of work and slightly lower marks can rank above you. Working professionals need a no-objection letter from their employer.
How to apply for DU SOL admission, step by step
Go to sol.du.ac.in and open the UG or PG admission link. UG and PG use separate portals, and the MBA has its own link.
Register, then fill in the personal and academic details pages. For PG, choose your courses carefully: the prospectus says you cannot change them after submission.
Upload clear scans of your documents in the sizes listed below.
Wait for verification. The UG prospectus says checking takes at least 3 to 5 days, and the payment link appears only after your documents pass.
Pay online by debit card, credit card or net banking. Use your own or a parent's account, because SOL deals only with the account the fee came from.
Download your fee receipt and identity card. Keep both safe for the whole course.
PG applicants also pay a small, non-refundable registration fee when they apply, and admission then depends on the merit list and seats. When your name appears on a list, pay within that list's window, because unclaimed seats move to the next list. Next cycle, aim to register at least a week before the last date so verification does not run past it.
Documents you need for DU SOL admission
Recent photograph and signature, JPEG, 10 KB to 200 KB each.
Class 10 marksheet (CBSE students) or Class 10 certificate and marksheet (other boards), self-attested, PDF or JPEG, 10 KB to 200 KB.
Class 12 marksheet (CBSE) or Class 12 certificate and marksheet (other boards), same format.
If you cleared a compartment, upload both marksheets.
Diploma holders: Class 10 certificate and marksheet, final-year (semester V and VI) marksheet and the provisional certificate.
Category certificate if you apply under SC, ST, OBC, EWS or PwBD. OBC must be non-creamy layer on the central list, and OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be issued after 31 March 2026.
PG and MBA: your bachelor's marksheets, and for MBA, work experience proof and the employer's no-objection letter.
Every admission stays provisional until SOL checks your original certificates. The prospectus warns that anyone caught with false documents can be barred from the university for five years and face a criminal case, so upload only what is genuinely yours.
DU SOL fees for 2026-27
| Programme | First-year fee |
|---|---|
| B.A. (Programme) and B.Com | Rs 12,070 |
| B.A. (Programme) with Computer Applications | Rs 15,570 |
| B.A. (Hons) English, Political Science, Economics and B.Com (Hons) | Rs 12,570 |
| BMS and BBA (FIA) | Rs 23,570 |
| M.A. Political Science, History and Sanskrit | Rs 12,820 |
| M.A. Hindi and M.Com | Rs 13,120 |
| MBA | Rs 57,920 per year |
These totals include the examination fee, which the university can revise. Some groups pay far less: PwBD students pay Rs 130 in all for a UG programme, while orphan and transgender students pay Rs 20. Armed forces personnel and their wards have separate, lower fee tables. SOL also offers a fee waiver to female students who score a CGPA of 8.5 or above. Confirm the fee shown on the portal before you pay.
If you withdraw before the notified last date of admission, SOL refunds the fee after deducting Rs 500 in administrative charges, or as current UGC-DEB rules allow. You apply in person at your regional centre with a handwritten application, the fee receipt, your SOL ID card, a bank passbook and a government ID.
Is a DU SOL degree recognised?
Yes. Your degree is awarded by the University of Delhi, and the PG prospectus states that its distance programmes are recognised by UGC, DEB and the university. The University of Delhi shows as recognised for open and distance learning in 2026-27 on our UGC-DEB approved universities list, which is worth checking for any distance programme before you pay.
Study is mainly self-paced. You get self-learning material for each paper, academic counselling sessions and semester exams at allotted centres. Students admitted from 2025 onwards fill exam forms and download hall tickets through the MEDHASETU portal. If you are still choosing between open universities, our IGNOU vs DU SOL comparison sets the two side by side.
Which DU SOL programme should you pick?
For most working students, B.A. (Programme) or B.Com is the best value: a Delhi University degree for Rs 12,070 in the first year, with only a Class 12 pass needed. Pick honours if you scored 45% or more and plan a master's in that subject, since the extra depth helps. BMS and BBA (FIA) cost nearly twice as much and need Mathematics, so choose them only if you want a management or finance track.
Be honest about self-study. There are no daily lectures, so you need a fixed weekly routine to keep up with the material and assignments. For programme-level details, see DU SOL distance BA and DU SOL distance B.Com.
Frequently asked questions
What is the last date for DU SOL admission 2026?

Is CUET required for DU SOL admission?
Not for UG. The prospectus cites a DEB notification of 13 July 2022 that removed CUET for distance-mode admission. For M.A. and M.Com, CUET (PG) is optional: CUET applicants get first preference and remaining seats go on graduation marks.
What percentage is needed for DU SOL?
B.A. (Programme), B.Com (Programme) and B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science need a Class 12 pass. Honours programmes, BMS and BBA (FIA) need 45% (40.5% for OBC, a pass for SC, ST and PwBD). The MBA needs 50% in graduation for the general category.
Can I get DU SOL admission after a gap year?
Yes. The UG prospectus places no restriction on gap-year students and sets no minimum age. Only candidates with a pending compartment are not admitted.

When will DU SOL admission 2027 start?
The 2027-28 dates are not announced yet. Registration opens only after DEB approval, and the 2026-27 cycle was announced in July 2026, so watch the notices page on sol.du.ac.in from early summer.
