BBA LLB full form is Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws. It is a five-year integrated course that you join after Class 12, combining a management degree with a law degree recognised by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an advocate. It runs over ten semesters and ends in one integrated degree.
This guide explains what each part of the name means, what you study on the business and law sides, and who the course suits. For fees, eligibility and colleges, see our BBA LLB course page.
BBA LLB full form, part by part
| Part | Stands for | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| BBA | Bachelor of Business Administration | The management half: accounting, economics, marketing, HR, finance, statistics |
| LLB | Bachelor of Laws | The law half: the BCI's compulsory core, from contract and constitutional law to company law and drafting |
| (Hons) | Honours | Extra papers in one area of law, eight more under the BCI rules |
LLB is short for Bachelor of Laws, which is how universities write it. The University of Delhi's 2026-27 admission bulletin, for example, refers to the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). You may also see LLB expanded as Bachelor of Legislative Law on some websites. The degree is the same, but Bachelor of Laws is the form you will find on university documents.
What kind of course is BBA LLB?
The Bar Council of India (BCI) calls it a double degree integrated course. Its Rules of Legal Education, 2008 say such a course combines a bachelor's degree in another discipline with a law degree and cannot be shorter than five years. Three things follow from that rule.
You cannot exit early with only the BBA. BCI Rule 13 bars a mid-way exit that splits the integrated degree, and it also bars lateral entry into a later year.
Internships are compulsory. A five-year course needs at least 20 weeks of internship across the programme, under BCI Rule 25.
It has to be a regular course. UGC's 2020 regulations for open, distance and online learning list law among the programmes that cannot be offered in those modes, so there is no valid online BBA LLB.
BBA LLB subjects: the management side
The BCI leaves the business papers to each university but names the areas they should come from: business communication, business mathematics, quantitative analysis, business statistics, business environment, accounts and finance, management theory and practice, human resource management and marketing management. Here is how two universities turn that into a timetable.
| Semester | University of Delhi, BBA LLB (Hons) | Gujarat National Law University, BBA LLB (Hons) |
|---|---|---|
| I | Fundamentals of Management, Business Accounting, Statistics for Business Decisions, Structure of English Language I | Principles and Practices of Management, Accounting for Decision Making |
| II | Managerial Economics I, Financial Management, Management Accounting, Structure of English Language II | Organizational Behaviour, Business Research Methods |
| III | Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Managerial Economics II | Human Resource Management, Managerial Economics |
| IV | Organizational Behaviour, Quantitative Techniques for Management, International Business | Marketing Management, Law and Economics |
| V | Financial Markets and Institutions | Financial Management, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management |
| VI | Business Analytics | Business Policy and Strategic Management |
| VII to X | Law papers only | No BBA papers listed |
The Delhi list comes from the Faculty of Law's five-year course structure, and the GNLU list from its undergraduate programme page. The pattern is the same at both: management papers fill the first three years and then stop, while law runs through all ten semesters. Expect accounts and statistics early on. They give you a strong foundation for company and tax law later, so be ready for numbers even though Class 12 maths is not a CLAT requirement.
BBA LLB subjects: the law side
The law half is the same in every integrated course, because the BCI fixes it. You take at least 30 law papers: 20 compulsory, 4 clinical and 6 optional, plus eight honours papers in an honours degree. In the Delhi structure that means contract, torts, family law, criminal law and evidence in the first two years, then constitutional law, civil procedure, company law and intellectual property, and finally drafting, taxation, labour law, environmental law, a research methods paper and a dissertation.
The business-facing optional papers are where the BBA side pays off for BBA LLB graduates who want corporate work. Delhi's optional list includes insolvency and bankruptcy, corporate governance (mergers, acquisitions and competition law), artificial intelligence and cyber law, international investment law and international commercial arbitration. For the full semester-by-semester law list, see our guide to BA LLB subjects; the law column is identical for BBA LLB.
How to get into a BBA LLB
The National Law Universities in the CLAT consortium admit through CLAT, and GNLU's page directs applicants to the CLAT consortium for admission details. For CLAT 2027, you need Class 12 with at least 45% marks (40% for SC, ST and PwD), there is no upper age limit, and students sitting their boards in March or April 2027 can apply. The exam is on 6 December 2026 and applications close on 31 October 2026. The University of Delhi also used CLAT 2026 scores for its 2026-27 BBA LLB intake. Private universities may run their own tests, so check each admission page.
Should you choose BBA LLB, BA LLB or a plain BBA?
| Option | Duration | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| BBA LLB | 5 years | You want law with a business lens: corporate law and corporate compliance, tax, banking or startup work |
| BA LLB | 5 years | You lean towards litigation, public law, policy or the judiciary |
| BBA, then a 3-year LLB | 6 years or more | You are unsure about law and want to decide after a business degree |
| BBA alone | Varies by university | You want a management career and an MBA later, not legal practice |
If you are confident about law at 17, the integrated course saves a year over the BBA-then-LLB route. If you are not, there is no penalty in taking a BBA first; our BBA full form and course guide explains that degree, and the LLB course duration guide covers the three-year law route after it. If you want to specialise later, an LLM in corporate law is the natural next step. When you are ready to shortlist colleges, compare them on our BBA LLB course details page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the full form of BBA LLB?
Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws. It is a five-year integrated course after Class 12 that combines a management degree with a BCI-recognised law degree.
Is BBA LLB a 5-year course?
Yes. It is a 5-year integrated course, because the BCI says an integrated law degree cannot be shorter than five years, and universities such as the University of Delhi and GNLU run it over ten semesters.
Can I leave BBA LLB after three years with a BBA degree?
No. BCI Rule 13 bars any mid-way exit that splits the integrated degree. If you want a separate BBA, take a three-year BBA and then a three-year LLB.
Is maths compulsory for BBA LLB?
Not for eligibility. CLAT 2027 asks only for Class 12 with 45% marks (40% for SC, ST and PwD) and does not name a stream. The course itself includes accounting and statistics, so basic numeracy helps.
What is the difference between BBA LLB and BA LLB?
Only the non-law half. BBA LLB pairs law with management papers such as accounting, finance and marketing; BA LLB pairs it with arts papers such as political science, history and sociology. The law papers are the same.
