Utkal University is the oldest and one of the most reputed institutions of higher learning in eastern India. It was founded in the year 1943. The university is situated in Bhubaneswar, and it has served as a major source of academic and cultural resources in the area. It also provides a wide variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and PhD courses with different disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Management, and Social Sciences. The university is also associated with over 350 colleges, and it is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its Learning Management System (LMS) is a tool that improves digital learning by using e-content, lecture recordings, discussion forums, and online testing, making the academic material available to the academic material at all times and locations. Utkal University focuses on research, innovation, and practical learning and urges the students to participate in projects and other community development initiatives. The university has a clear progressive management structure that is governed by the Chancellor (Governor of Odisha) through the Vice-Chancellor. It has well-furnished laboratories, computer centres, digital libraries and modern classrooms to facilitate a dynamic learning environment. Targeting non-campus learners, the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DDCE) provides additional learning opportunities to learners. Utkal University has been accredited with a grade of A+ by NAAC and strongly believes in academic excellence, skill building, and holistic education.
