Cochin University of Science and Technology School of Engineering (CUSAT) is one of the best state-owned engineering colleges which was established in 1979 at Kochi, Kerala. Being the creation of CUSAT, a central university in UGC Act, the School of Engineering can offer undergraduate courses, post-graduate and doctoral courses in various branches of engineering, technology and applied sciences. The university is characterized by its research-oriented nature and offers quality education in a perfect blend of theoretical and practical training and co-curricular activities. The university has state-of-the-art facilities such as state-of-the-art laboratories, smart classes, a central library and research centres. The School is also proactive in maintaining industry-academia partnerships, through which the students are offered the opportunity to have an internship, an industrial project, and certification, which contributes immensely to their professional competency. At the undergraduate level, the School of Engineering provides undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, mechanical, civil, as well as safety and fire engineering, information technology and ship technology and other B.Tech Lateral Entry Programs.. Postgraduate courses are provided, as well as PhD research courses, which are constantly revised according to the needs of the industry and the development of new technologies. The School of Engineering has realized the needs of working professionals and distance learners and has, consequently, launched UGC-recognised online learning programs. The academic levels of these programs are identical to those of the campus programs but offer flexible learning activities by use of interactive modules, live virtual classes, and online labs. Internet-based program graduates are given a degree that is just as recognized and has an equal job opportunity as any other graduate degree. The School of Engineering, CUSAT has the mission of producing technically qualified, ethically-based and socially responsible engineers who can play their relevant part in this country and society. The School identifies students to perform in competitive global environments through its holistic approach to education and full-fledged development programs.
