National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim is among the 31 NITs in India and was founded in the year 2010 as an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. The institute is situated in Ravangla, South Sikkim, and comes under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and has all the autonomy in academic, administrative, and financial aspects. The NIT Sikkim strives to deliver quality technical education in the ideal combination of theoretical learning, practical learning and research-based learning. The campus has up-to-date infrastructure comprising all the modernized laboratories, smart classrooms, a well-developed library, research centres, and residential facilities. The institute also focuses on industry-academic partnership and offers students a chance to have internships, industry projects, as well as professional certification that increases their employability and career opportunities. In the undergraduate degree, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are provided at NIT Sikkim.
