Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), a Central University established in 1988 by the act of parliament is located in over 200 acres of area in Telangana State. This institution is named after a freedom fighter Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad who was also the first Education Minister of our Independent India. This University was established to lay the foundation of Scientific, technical, and higher studies in our Country. The University offers various courses through 7 schools like School of Arts & Social Sciences, the School of Education and Training, the School of Languages, Linguistics and Indology, the School of Technology (Computer Science & Information Technology), the School of Commerce and Business Management, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and the School of Sciences. It has around 19 departments that provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses in various disciplines. It has 9 research centers that offer academic, professional & technical knowledge to the students, like the Al-Beruni Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (AICSSEIP), Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (CPDUMT), Centre for Urdu Culture Studies (CUCS), H.K. Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies (HKSCDS), UGC Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC), Center for Information Technology (CIT), Center for Promotion of Knowledge in Urdu (CPKU), Centre for Women Studies (CWS), and Instructional Media Centre (IMC). It offers courses in both regular mode as well as in distance mode of learning. The University is entitled by UGC and has been accredited by NAAC A+ Grade. It consists of 5 polytechnic centers located at Cuttack, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Darbhanga, and Kadapa. It also has ITIs at Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Darbhanga, Along with three model schools at Hyderabad, Nuh, and Darbhanga. Since it offers courses in distance mode, it has courses all across the country in 11 states Bengaluru, Darbhanga, Kolkatta, Patna, Srinagar, Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, and Ranchi, with 5 sub-regional centers at Amravati, Jammu, Nuh, Hyderabad and at Lucknow. The university has recently implemented the CBCS(Choice Based Credit System) along with the MOOCs (Non-CGPA credit Course), which will help in value contribution to the study programs by MANUU. Initiation of structuring the whole monitoring system of the University by appointing Coordinators from all the Colleges, Departments for IQAC, Centres, Polytechnics, Model Schools, Satellite Campuses, Directorates, ITIs, and Administrative and Academic Sections. The University is offering many courses to the students in distance mode to the students from 9 regional centers and 6 sub-regional centers. Currently, the University has more than 143 learner Support Centers and 20 study program centers that facilitate the admission of students by SAMARTH ERP. (DDE)The Directorate of Distance Education offers six postgraduate study programs (M.A. in English, Hindi, History, Arabic, and Islamic Studies) and 4 undergraduate programs to the students B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., and B.Ed. It also offers diploma courses to students in Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication, a Diploma in Teaching in English, and some certificate courses.
