Kalyani University Distance Education snapshot
The University was established in 1960. It has a record of excellence in offering quality education to all students. In 1975, the University was divided, and as a consequence, the faculty of agriculture turned into an agricultural university, An independent University named the Bipin Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya located at Mohanpur, Nadia., the leading University continued working with the existing departments of Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology included including the faculty of Science, department of education, physical education, economics, sociology, included under faculty of Commerce. Kalyani University is approved by UGC- DEB and AICTE. Later, in the 70s, the University came up with four different departments History, political science, Bengali, and commerce, under the faculty of Commerce & Arts. and statics department under the science faculty. After that, the University has kept growing in terms of providing quality education, and research-oriented studies, and also making students ready for real-time work knowledge in the job fields. In the year 1988, this institution got the status of an affiliated college, and during the initial 80s, the University opened two new departments - the Department of Biophysics, & Biochemistry, under the Science faculty, and the Department of Languages under the Arts faculty. And the University with each passed year, opened many more new departments. DODL(Directorate of Open & Distance Learning), was also an amazing initiative of the University that came into existence with some major aims and objectives like offering quality higher education to people who are unable to continue their studies in regular mode. It offers education to all irrespective of place of residence, age, gender, caste, or race. It offers the students a self-paced learning system. With the assistance of the Distance Education Council, IGNOU, and other West Bengal Universities, DODL(Distance of Open & Distance Learning) was established.
