Bachelor of Computer Applications in Cyber Security (BCA Cyber Security)

BCA Cyber Security is a three-year undergraduate degree that teaches you to protect computers, networks and data from attacks. What is BCA Cyber Security?

The full form is Bachelor of Computer Applications in Cyber Security. It is a specialised version of the general BCA, offered by universities that want to produce job-ready security analysts. It is different from B.Sc Cyber Security, which is more science oriented, and from BTech Cyber Security, which is an engineering degree.

Cyber security course eligibility

• Pass 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board.
• Students from Science, Commerce and Arts streams are generally eligible.
• Some colleges prefer Mathematics or Computer Science at 10+2.
• Minimum aggregate varies by institution, often between 45 and 60 per cent.

Duration and structure

• Year 1: computer fundamentals, C programming, mathematics for computing, data structures, networks, databases, operating systems, web technologies.
• Year 2: cyber security fundamentals, Python, network security, cryptography, ethical hacking, digital forensics, security management, cyber law, Linux administration.

Admission process

Colleges admit through CUET UG, IPU CET, state or university entrance tests, or direct merit. Typical steps are registration, entrance score or marks submission, counselling, document verification and fee payment.
